Vacations are fun because they reduce stress and increase happiness in life, according to a study from the Netherlands, published the Journal Applied Research in Quality of Life.
Vacations
can bring down your stress and may improve your life over the long term if you
allow yourself to relax. "Many people have epiphanies when they travel
because they can view their life back home from a detached, outsider's view and
give you a clearer sense of who you are and how you really want to live your
life," says Bryan Robinson, Ph.D., author of Chained to the
Desk: A Guidebook for Workaholics, their Partners and Children and the
Clinicians Who Treat Them.

Here are few tips:
- Plan to Relax: The vacationers in the
Netherlands study who saw an increase in their happiness were the ones who
said that they felt "very relaxed" on their vacation. So Plan
who you are going with, where, how and all that, so that when you’re on a
vaction, you can actually RELAX
!!.
- Plan your vacation activities to
suit your personality. All People go to Beach. But if you’re the
sporty kind then plan your beach activities accordingly, if you’re a
relaxing lazy kind then plan your activities accordingly.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU ARE, SO PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
- Take couple of mini vacations. The study shows that persons
get a mood boost out of planning and anticipating vacations. Persons who
have several mini-vacations throughout the year may raise their overall
happiness quotient higher than if they just have one vacation and then
there's nothing to look forward to until next year.
SO WORK HARD AND VACATION ON THE BEACH HARDER !!
- Do take vacations
during major holidays, such as the Fourth of July or in August, when most
of the people are not working and the work pile is usually not heavy, so don’t
have to worry about work when you are away.
- Plan and Delegate
your work to be done in your absence. Planning & Delegating work in advance to
when you leave, takes your mind away from the thought “whats happening at
office, when I’m not there” when you should be at the beach enjoying the
beautiful weather and romantic sunset.
- Create Buffer. Since we can plan everything, but not necessarily everything happens as per plan, so CREATE A BUFFER = LOWER STRESS !
